The pillar rising at the center and the circle placed above symbolize the formation of heaven and earth. For Kunitokotachi-no-Kami, this piece draws on the interpretation of the deity as the foundation from which the land and nation come into being. As for En (fate/connection) and Yomi (the hidden realm), these are creatively woven in as thin lines that continue unbroken while hidden within the strata of the earth.
