Privacy policy

ArtLauncher Inc. ("we", "us", or "our") provides this privacy policy to explain how we handle personal information in the service we operate, PosterCircus (the "Service").

Article 1 (Personal information)

"Personal information" has the meaning given to it under Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information: information about a living individual that can be used to identify that individual, including name, date of birth, address, phone number, contact details, and similar descriptions.

Article 2 (How we collect personal information)

1.When an Artist (a registered user who sells products through the Service) signs up, we may ask for personal information such as their name, address, phone number, and email address.
2.When a Customer (a person who purchases products on the Service) places an order, we ask for personal information such as their name, address, phone number, and email address. Payment details such as credit card numbers are collected and stored directly by our payment processor (Stripe, Inc.) and are never stored on our servers.

Article 3 (How we use personal information)

1.We collect and use Artists' personal information for the following purposes:
  • To provide and operate the Service (including manufacturing, packaging, and shipping products to the specified address).
  • To respond to inquiries from Artists (including identity verification).
  • To send emails about new features, updates, and campaigns for the Service and other services we offer.
  • To contact Artists about maintenance, important notices, and similar matters as needed.
  • To identify and block Artists who violate our Terms of Service or who attempt to use the Service for improper or fraudulent purposes.
  • To bill Artists for any paid services they use.
2.We collect and use Customers' personal information for the following purposes:
  • To deliver orders (manufacturing, packaging, and shipping to the specified address).
  • To send order confirmations, shipping notifications, and other messages related to purchases.
  • To contact Customers in the event of delivery issues.
  • To share order details and shipping information with the Artist who received the order (Artists can view orders placed through their own store page, including order contents and shipping information, in their dashboard).
  • With the Customer's consent, to send information about new Artists and works.

Article 4 (Changes to purposes of use)

We may change the purposes for which personal information is used only where the new purpose is reasonably related to the original one. If we change a purpose of use, we will notify users of the change through a method we determine or post it on this website.

Article 5 (Sharing with third parties)

1.We will not share personal information with third parties without the prior consent of the individual, except in the cases listed below or as otherwise permitted by the Act on the Protection of Personal Information or other laws:
  • When sharing is necessary to protect a person's life, body, or property and it is difficult to obtain the individual's consent.
  • When sharing is particularly necessary for improving public health or promoting the healthy development of children, and it is difficult to obtain the individual's consent.
  • When cooperation with a national or local government agency (or a party entrusted by one) is necessary to carry out duties prescribed by law, and obtaining the individual's consent would interfere with those duties.
2.Notwithstanding the preceding paragraph, the following recipients are not treated as "third parties":
  • Service providers to whom we entrust all or part of the handling of personal information to the extent necessary to achieve the purposes of use (for example, sharing addresses with shipping carriers or payment data with payment processors).
  • Artists who sell products through the Service, to whom we provide order contents and shipping information for orders placed through their store pages.
  • Successors in the event of a merger or other transfer of business.

Article 6 (Security of personal information)

We take appropriate technical and organizational measures to prevent the leakage, loss, or damage of personal information and to otherwise safeguard it. For sensitive data such as Customer shipping addresses, we enforce strict access controls to help prevent unauthorized access.

Article 7 (Disclosure of personal information)

When an individual requests disclosure of their personal information, we will disclose it without undue delay. However, we may withhold all or part of the information in the following cases, and will notify the individual of any decision to withhold without undue delay:

1.Where disclosure could harm the life, body, property, or other rights or interests of the individual or a third party.
2.Where disclosure could significantly interfere with the proper operation of our business.
3.Where disclosure would violate other laws or regulations.

Article 8 (Correction and deletion of personal information)

1.If the personal information we hold about an Artist or Customer is inaccurate, that individual may request correction, addition, or deletion (collectively, "correction") through the procedures we specify.
2.If we determine that such a request should be honored, we will correct the personal information without undue delay.

Article 9 (Changes to this privacy policy)

1.Except for matters otherwise required by law or specifically provided for in this policy, we may change this policy without notifying users.
2.Unless we specify otherwise, the updated privacy policy takes effect when it is posted on this website.

Article 10 (Cookies, curator tracking, and analytics)

1.We may use cookies and similar technologies to provide and improve the Service and to enhance convenience (for example, to remember your display language or cart contents). You can disable or delete cookies through your browser settings, but some features of the Service may not work correctly if you do.
2.The Service's marketplace offers a curator (referral) program. When you arrive via a curator's referral link, we store a referral code (an identifier that does not personally identify you) in a cookie (giclee_aff) for up to 90 days, so that a resulting purchase can be correctly attributed to the referring curator. This code does not identify you personally and is used only to calculate curator rewards and to prevent fraud.
3.To understand and improve how the Service is used, we may collect usage data (such as pages viewed, referrer, and device environment) through analytics tools. This data is processed statistically and is not used to identify individuals.
