大島しゅうじ

Shuji Oshima Photographer based in Tokyo. My work begins with high-quality portrait photography — promotional shots and fine-art portraiture — built on meticulous lighting, and expands from there into next-generation fine art that layers AI-generated backgrounds and effects over real subjects. I'm known for my advanced retouching and compositing skills, as well as the imagination I bring to seamlessly placing real-life subjects into "fantasy worlds that could never exist in reality." I also serve as the official photographer for "Nyotai Shodō," an art project created in collaboration with Sanzaemon Kobayashi, and I have been active in the fine art world both in Japan and internationally — including receiving a Certificate of Artistic Merit at the Luxembourg Art Prize. Alongside planning and producing events such as "Tokyo Cutie Photo Sessions" and pursuing my own independent art projects, I continue to share my work ambitiously with audiences at home and abroad. With an eye toward competing on international stages such as the WPC (World Photographic Cup), I keep pushing the boundaries of what photographic expression can be.
