DOVOID Contemporary Artist / Japan Born in Ehime Prefecture. I studied painting in the Oil Painting program at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Aichi Prefectural University of the Arts. I explore the infinite possibilities born from color and form, moving back and forth across the boundary between figuration and abstraction to build my own visual world. I have a particular feel for layering delicate, pale hues, coaxing subtle shifts in tone, and crafting smooth gradations — while occasionally introducing vivid color contrasts to create compositions where quietude and tension coexist. Starting from forms found in the everyday world — the sea, ships, cities, machinery — I deconstruct and reconstruct their underlying structures, pursuing new modes of visual expression that break free from the original meaning of each subject. Bold fields of color against refined gradation. Straight lines against curves. Sharp contours against ambiguous edges. By combining opposing elements, I draw out the inherent beauty of color and form themselves. Rather than assigning a fixed meaning or narrative to my work, I hope that each viewer brings their own sensibility to it — interpreting it freely and opening up a world entirely their own. Art beyond form. Color beyond meaning. Beyond form. Beyond meaning. Into the other side of color.
