Photomer Shimajiro Flowers, birds, insects, and small lives encountered along the way. Without overly arranging or altering what is already there, I photograph the scenes, the light, and the fleeting moments I find in nature — preserving them exactly as they existed in that place, at that instant. Rather than heading somewhere special to "shoot a piece of work," I tend to stop in my tracks along whatever path I happen to be walking, and find the expression of life that is simply there. The photographs born from these moments are what we call records of "Michikusa" — a Japanese word that evokes the small discoveries found when you take an unhurried detour. "Photomer" is my own name for what I do: something that steps just slightly beyond the frame of "someone who takes photographs" — a way of finding small stories hidden in everyday life and delivering them through images. Even in scenery we might ordinarily pass right by, there are beautiful moments waiting to be noticed, if only we stop for a moment. May my photographs bring a small moment of "Michikusa" into someone's everyday life.
