Kosuge Shrine, nestled in the Kosuge district of Iiyama City. With over a thousand years of history, it stands as a sacred shugendo site (a place of ascetic mountain practice), where yamabushi — wandering ascetic monks — have long come to train. This print depicts the approach leading to its innermost sanctuary, the Okumiya. Through pointillism, I sought to capture the hushed, sacred atmosphere that hangs in the air as one moves through the deep forest along the path.
High-quality giclée printing using 12-color pigment inks and 0.35mm fine art paper. Faithfully reproduces the texture and brushstrokes of the original work, with lightfastness of approximately 200 years.
