One night, a dragon appeared to me without warning in a dream. Its head was white, with a calm, serpentine face that seemed to hold some ancient stillness. What stayed with me most vividly, above all else, were the scales — each one a perfectly octagonal tile of jade stone, covering its entire body. Even after I woke, the image remained startlingly clear in my mind. Before it could fade, I traced back through my memory and gave that dreamlike form a life of its own as a single work of art. The number eight carries auspicious meaning in East Asian tradition, evoking ever-expanding good fortune; jade and dragons, too, have long been cherished as symbols of luck and blessing. A white head, octagonal scales of jade — everything here was born from what I witnessed in that dream. A jade dragon encountered at the border between dream and waking reality. This piece is a record of that fleeting moment.
