I weave in symbolism while avoiding the flashy, and I place great importance on capturing the subtle "presence" and "structure" that lie hidden within a work. I am drawn to the medieval aesthetic sensibility found in armor and illuminated manuscripts, as well as the signs offered by the natural world — and I strive to give shape to these through a quiet, understated brushwork. My photography centers on landscapes and plants. When a piece is placed in a space, I aim to bring a gentle tension and quiet dignity to its composed presence, without relying on excessive staging.
