"Purity Like a Death Shroud" The remnants of decaying memories bleed outward, a sepia fog slowly consuming the world Behind her stretches an ancient forest — one that rejects light and feeds on silence The trees have ceased to breathe, existing simply as a sanctuary severed from the passage of time She stands like a wraith balanced on the threshold Her translucent skin rises pale — and yet cruelly, blindingly white — in the half-light where life and death intersect What lives in her eyes is a grief that has not yet become words, and the emptiness that remains after witnessing everything The fabric she wears is as fragile as a vow of former innocence, yet its very texture holds a decadent beauty that belongs only to things already turning toward ruin Her gaze mirrors the void like still water, drawing the soul of the viewer down into a wordless abyss Beauty has always kept its back against the premonition of collapse, and the white she wears shimmers, suffused with a purity like a death shroud ◈ Artist's Note A woman standing alone in the hush of a deep forest. When I set out to render her, I wanted to capture not merely a portrait, but the very threshold where life meets death — where memory meets forgetting. Across the entire image I layered the sepia grain and noise that belongs only to things worn down by long years. As if an old photograph were slowly weathering away, or a memory dissolving into mist, I expressed a loss and muddying of information that moves from the edges of the frame toward the center. The forest behind her is not rendered as recognizable trees but processed as a dark, dense mass that swallows light and hoards silence. Against that darkness, the white cloth she wears and the texture of her almost-translucent skin rise with an otherworldly pallor. As I wrote the poem, my attention kept returning to the duality of her white. It is immaculate purity, and at the same time the burial shroud (death shroud) worn by one who has finished everything. I wanted to show, through her eyes, how the color white could carry so heavy, so decadent a resonance. Her gaze seems to meet ours, yet in truth it appears to be looking past us — into the void on the other side. By subduing the highlights in her eyes and casting deep shadow within them, I tried to convey a grief that has quietly settled, unable to rise into language. Beauty can blaze most fiercely — and most cruelly — at the very moment something crumbles away. In this work, too, it is not a perfected beauty I sought to capture, but the beauty of "remnants" still in the process of falling apart — sealed inside light, shadow, and the lingering echo of words. ◈ Edition This work is a limited-edition giclée print from the Mystique In Enigma series. About Limited Editions
This is a Limited Edition produced in only 1 pieces worldwide. Each piece carries a unique edition number, with authenticity proven both digitally and physically.

Each print carries a unique NFC tag. Its tamper-evident structure breaks if removed, so it cannot be transferred to another work.

Artwork details, edition number, and ownership history are recorded on the blockchain, preserving provenance and ownership over the long term.

A certificate bearing the artist's signature is included. Along with the print itself, it leaves you with proof of authentic ownership.
Unlike traditional proof that relies on a handwritten signature alone, linking a physical NFC tag with a digital certification record delivers tamper-proof, far more reliable proof of authenticity.
Authenticity is certified using "Startrail," a blockchain certification platform operated by Startbahn, Inc.
