"The Curse of the Smile" The light that falls through the window wraps the memory of those shared afternoons in a pale, clouded mist. On that day, the arc your fingertips traced in the air — a farewell drawn against nothing — still lingers here, an echo suspended in the silence. No matter how many seasons rewrite its outline, I stand at this threshold, waiting without a sound for the creak of the door, or for your return. And then, amid the drifting particles of light, your eyes turned back to find mine — and the faint smile that lived in them was not salvation. It became a curse that would never, ever break. That gaze stirs the depths of memory… Even inside the dream, we remain invisible to each other, merely existing. And that is precisely why your smile is a trap that destroys eternity. ◈ Artist's Note The light pouring in from the window dissolves into pale, murky particles that fill the entire space. Within that light, a woman turns — just for a moment — and offers a soft smile. Her presence carries a fragile, uncertain texture: less a living person than a fragment of memory that has taken shape out of photonic noise. In making this work, I wanted to convey the feeling that she is "someone who was once there" — and I chose to express that through visual instability. By layering digital glitch across the entire frame and applying heavy blurring to dissolve her edges, I tried to leave her existence suspended between this world and the borderland of a dream. I paid particular attention to the contrast between the dark silhouette of the window frame behind her and the luminous particles in front of it, so that the place where she stands reads not as a real landscape, but as the deep abyss of memory. In the poem, I called her smile "a trap that destroys eternity." At first glance, her smile in the image looks gentle — almost like the relief of a reunion. But the more perfect that smile is, the more surely the person who receives it is pulled back, forever, toward a day they can never return to. That is the cruelty I wanted to paint into her beauty. As I wove the words of the poem together, the light that lives in her eyes began to feel less like a simple reflection and more like an inescapable curse — something that reaches into the viewer's own memory and will not let go. In structuring the language, I deliberately chose the phrase "invisible to each other, merely existing" to emphasize her intangibility. It mirrors the way her figure is rendered on the canvas: as a shimmer of light with no fixed form. However many times those light particles cloud over, however many seasons turn — to remain forever captive to her smile at this threshold. The inescapable solitude of that, and the obsession with a memory too beautiful to release: I have sealed them both inside this single print. ◈ Edition This work is a limited-edition giclée print from the Mystique In Enigma series. ◈ Keywords smile / curse / memory / dream / boundary / ghost / light particles / glitch / nostalgia / melancholic / ephemeral / silhouette

About Limited Editions
This is a Limited Edition produced in only 1 pieces worldwide. Each piece carries a unique edition number, with authenticity proven both digitally and physically.

Each print carries a unique NFC tag. Its tamper-evident structure breaks if removed, so it cannot be transferred to another work.

Artwork details, edition number, and ownership history are recorded on the blockchain, preserving provenance and ownership over the long term.

A certificate bearing the artist's signature is included. Along with the print itself, it leaves you with proof of authentic ownership.
Unlike traditional proof that relies on a handwritten signature alone, linking a physical NFC tag with a digital certification record delivers tamper-proof, far more reliable proof of authenticity.
Authenticity is certified using "Startrail," a blockchain certification platform operated by Startbahn, Inc.
