ABOUT RITSUKO NISHIMURA Ritsuko Nishimura makes work with particular care for how it feels when hung in a room. Light, air, and quietness are the guiding sensibilities. Even when painting recognizable subjects, she resists over-rendering — letting color fields, visible brushwork, and open space do the work, so the image settles naturally into everyday life. The ideas she long explored under the word KINARI — soft light, atmosphere, and stillness — remain a current running through her practice today.
