SERIES — BLOOM BLOOM is a series created to bring the feeling of flowers into a room — a little more color, a little more lightness, and a small lift in mood. Even where fresh flowers are difficult to keep, a painting can still create a sense of floral presence. Rather than rendering flowers botanically, the series uses light, open space (ma — the Japanese aesthetic of meaningful negative space), layered color, and painterly texture to suggest flowers and the air around them. BLOOM is not built around a fixed number of works. Each piece explores a different color and time of day, and only the works that feel strong enough to live with are kept in the series. ABOUT RITSUKO NISHIMURA Ritsuko Nishimura creates abstract and semi-abstract landscapes with a focus on how a work feels when it is actually lived with in a room. Her paintings balance color and form with light, air, stillness, and open space. Rather than demanding attention, they are intended to settle naturally into an interior and offer a small sense of ease or brightness whenever they are noticed.
