"The Silent Companion" In a border forest (the liminal threshold between worlds) veiled in pale white haze, cold snow falls without a sound. Why I wandered into a place like this, I cannot say — the memory has dissolved into faint mist, and even my footprints are swallowed almost at once by the silver-white world. Yet there, at the edge of my sight, within the blue-white light filtering between the trees, a shadow stood in perfect stillness. A jet-black silhouette with no face, no arms — only two slender legs. It was not there to reject me, nor to attack. Simply by existing, it looked like a waymarker set to guide the lost toward the right kind of ending. In the frozen air, the moment I felt it quietly turn toward me, a faint rustling — like the whisper of cloth against cloth — reached my ear, and at the instant I touched the depths of that silence…… Fragments of memory sink beneath the snow and disappear. What spills from the whitening sky — is it prayer, or merely forgetting? A silver silence wraps around nameless footsteps, and the boundary line bleeds softly on without end. Against the back that has lost all means of turning, a wind like cold fingertips passes through. If I let myself be led and melt into particles of light, the self I was until yesterday will no longer be there. Only the white that keeps falling quietly bears witness to the beginning of the end. ◈ Artist's Note I set out to paint a scene of snow falling soundlessly into a forest that stands at the boundary where this world and the next world meet. It is a world drained of sensation — one in which even the memory of why I am standing in this place has dissolved away into fog. At the center of the composition I placed a strangely formed presence waiting at the far end of a path. The jet-black silhouette has no face and no arms; only two slender legs stand quietly upon the snow. It is the "companion" that was waiting for me in this forest, ready to guide the souls of the dead onward to the other side. In terms of visual expression, I prioritized the milky, overcast quality of air that drifts across the entire picture plane, and the tactile sense of accumulating snow. I let a pale, bluish light filter in from the background and applied a soft blur so that the distant scenery dissolves into the mist. Through this I tried to evoke the ambiguity of the boundary itself and a depth from which no exit can be seen. The palette is built around cool tones, with a strong contrast between the white of the snow, the blue of the sky, and the black of the figure that stands apart from both. I deliberately left the figure's outline undefined, letting it blend into the surrounding snow and noise, so that it carries an unmistakable physical weight while at the same time holding a fragility on the verge of vanishing. The fine grain scattered across the entire surface represents both the endlessly falling snow and the process of memory flaking away. Within this silence, I wanted to preserve in a tangible form the sensation of that moment of melting into particles of light — a feeling that is at once an ending and a beginning. ◈ Edition This work is a limited-edition giclée print from the Mystique In Enigma series. ◈ Keywords Silent Companion / Boundary Forest / Snowfall / Black Silhouette / Ethereal Presence / Afterlife / Spiritual Guide / Monochrome Mood / Melancholic Atmosphere / Foggy Landscape / Transcendence

About Limited Editions
This is a Limited Edition produced in only 1 pieces worldwide. Each piece carries a unique edition number, with authenticity proven both digitally and physically.

Each print carries a unique NFC tag. Its tamper-evident structure breaks if removed, so it cannot be transferred to another work.

Artwork details, edition number, and ownership history are recorded on the blockchain, preserving provenance and ownership over the long term.

A certificate bearing the artist's signature is included. Along with the print itself, it leaves you with proof of authentic ownership.
Unlike traditional proof that relies on a handwritten signature alone, linking a physical NFC tag with a digital certification record delivers tamper-proof, far more reliable proof of authenticity.
Authenticity is certified using "Startrail," a blockchain certification platform operated by Startbahn, Inc.
