A small wish, trembling at the depths of my soul I love this solitude on my side of the threshold more than the silence waiting on the other I am a shadow standing at the boundary an eternal lost child who will never fade away ◈ Artist's Note I painted a woman walking alone through a forest wrapped in deep mist — wandering, as though she cannot stop. She is the spirit of someone who passed from this world long ago, and her appearance carries the lingering shadow of an era when time seemed to stand still. Through her figure, I wanted to express a desperate, aching will — her refusal to cross over to the other side, her insistence on remaining here, in this place. Visually, my first concern was the distinctive gradation of green that dominates the entire composition. Starting from a deep tone that evokes the very breath of verdant green (midori), I let the mist scatter the light and dissolve the edges of things, creating a space where boundaries blur and lose their meaning. The trees in the background are deliberately kept out of focus, melting into the distance — a choice that heightens the sense of entrapment, like an endless circle, and the feeling that she is slowly becoming part of the forest itself. In rendering the figure, I used strong, near-silhouette contrast to suggest that her individual identity has grown thin — that she exists now as shadow more than person. Yet rather than collapsing her entirely into black, I left faint traces of reflected light along the texture of her clothing and the lines of her body, hinting that a small wish still flickers inside her, not yet extinguished. I also placed deliberate digital noise and glitch effects along both edges of the frame. These are not decorative — they are a visualization of the distortion that arises at the threshold between reality and the boundary, between the world of the living and the world of the dead. That fractured, trembling outline gives the image a sense of motion: she is not standing still. She is wandering still. Her solitude — the solitude of one who refuses to be spoken of, who leaves her memories among the trees — merges in this work with the silence of the forest itself.
