"The Twin Trees" The left tree stands silent as bone, its branches cradling the whispers of death. The right tree spreads its warmth-laden boughs, as light falls softly through the mist. Snow cleaves into two—— cold, yet warm, dancing between life and death, each flake a word spoken by the soul. ◈ Artist's Note This world and the next. I painted this piece while imagining the "in-between forest" — that liminal space (ma: the charged interval between two states) that exists along the boundary of life and death. Rather than simply depicting a quiet woodland, I wanted to breathe into it a sense that "life" and "death" are always side by side, inhaling and exhaling together. The vertical axis of the composition was guided by temperature and contrast. The lower half is steeped in cold, blue-toned hues to evoke the texture of frozen earth, while the upper half dissolves into colors that carry a faint warmth — as though light is seeping through from above. Through this top-to-bottom gradation, I hoped to express both the cold of the ground and the life-giving warmth descending from the sky, simultaneously. Horizontally, I deliberately placed two trees as mirror opposites. The tree on the left writhes like blackened bone, treated to give it a subtly unsettling, sharp presence. The tree on the right, by contrast, spreads soft and billowing branches, textured to suggest a gentle light emanating from within. To make this contrast resonate even more deeply, I was especially particular about the rendering of snow. Rather than simply showing snowfall, I painted each individual flake catching and reflecting the warm light of the right-hand tree, glittering as it drifts down. It's my hope that these "snow-reflected lights" create a strange and tender feeling — as if small sparks of hope and warmth are alive even within the cold air. The poem accompanying the work is a translation into words of the images that cycled through my mind while painting. I placed snow as the connective thread between the "whisper of death" held by the left tree and the "warmth" spread by the right. Both cold and warm at once. I wanted to seal inside this forest a moment like a memory — one that sways in the space between life and death. My wish is that those who encounter this piece find, somewhere within it, a reflection of their own "quiet solitude" or "small, lingering warmth." ◈ Edition This work is a limited-edition giclée print from the Mystique In Enigma series. ◈ Keywords duality / winter forest / snow / light and shadow / life and death / mist / melancholy / ethereal / contrast / stillness / spiritual / boundary

About Limited Editions
This is a Limited Edition produced in only 1 pieces worldwide. Each piece carries a unique edition number, with authenticity proven both digitally and physically.

Each print carries a unique NFC tag. Its tamper-evident structure breaks if removed, so it cannot be transferred to another work.

Artwork details, edition number, and ownership history are recorded on the blockchain, preserving provenance and ownership over the long term.

A certificate bearing the artist's signature is included. Along with the print itself, it leaves you with proof of authentic ownership.
Unlike traditional proof that relies on a handwritten signature alone, linking a physical NFC tag with a digital certification record delivers tamper-proof, far more reliable proof of authenticity.
Authenticity is certified using "Startrail," a blockchain certification platform operated by Startbahn, Inc.
