From a distance, each work still reads as a landscape. Up close, the emphasis shifts to broad white brushwork and layered accents of pale blue, blush, ochre, lavender, and sage. The sky is kept mostly white, with color appearing only at the edges and between the larger strokes. The landscapes below are also simplified, using broad shapes and painterly texture rather than fine detail.
