"Eternal Sunlight" Since that day, I have held my breath here Light spills through the cracks of crumbling walls My body has long since dissolved into the wind yet the view from this window remains, unchanged "I must go home" — I whisper it again and again But my feet will not move, and only my shadow stretches long I want to hold, just once more, the light I saw that day So today again I stand inside a patch of sunlight I cannot reach ◈ Artist's Note She was once the mistress of this manor, spending her days here in quiet contentment. For her, savoring the light that poured through the windows and watching the slow turn of the seasons were among the most precious parts of everyday life. But on a winter's day, a parting arrived without warning — and in that instant, her time froze. Through this work, I wanted to portray a presence that lingers in this place even after losing her body, even after her voice can no longer reach anyone. She has forgotten that there is somewhere she should return to, and within these rooms as they crumble into ruin, she does nothing but chase the light beyond the window. In composing the image, I emphasized the contrast between the intense light flooding in from the left and the dark space on the right. To evoke the texture of decaying walls and the atmosphere inside the room, I layered a coarse, grainy quality across the whole piece, giving visual form to the slow weathering of matter. For the woman's silhouette in particular, I deliberately softened the edges so that she dissolves into the background noise — a conscious choice to suggest her fading presence and the blurring of the boundary between the living and the lost. The lit areas retain a tonal intensity close to pure overexposure, while deep shadows anchor the darker passages — setting her solitude against the bittersweet pull the light still holds over her.
