And once more, she calls "you" back into being. In this room, between light and shadow, the forgotten ones quietly, go on living—— And the one truth that everyone can find themselves within that shadow—— is this alone. ◈ Artist's Note This work was built upon a poem titled "Dawn Before the Song Ends." Because the poem moves along the boundary between existence and memory — through images like "shadow," "the forgotten ones," and "finding oneself" — I wanted to preserve that same ambiguity in the visual space as well. In the image, a pale violet curtain receives a soft, diffused light, and before it stands the silhouette of a woman. Her back is dark; her outline appears slightly blurred — and that blurring was entirely intentional. Because the poem speaks of shadow as something that is "conjured," I wanted to treat her not as a figure but as an afterimage of memory. I gave the curtain a sense of movement — as if wind were slipping through — to leave room for the flow of the story and the passage of time. The light is rendered in soft, hazy tones of violet and blue, evoking the stillness that lives at the very bottom of memory. When finishing the shadow, I deliberately "broke down the edges" and added a faint noise and glitch-like quality. My intention was to let the state of being "forgotten" come through visually, and to leave open a space where the viewer's own memories could be layered in. To echo the poem's moment where "she calls you back into being," I gave movement to the shifting curtain, creating an atmosphere in which the story never quite closes. In that spirit, the composition places the shadow's silhouette at the center, while the light in the background is allowed to gently blur away. Throughout the work, I kept returning to the idea of "making the invisible visible" — leaving space for each viewer to lay their own memories over what they see.
