Unforgettable Memories It was your shadow that tore through the curtain — that figure, steeped in white light, is no longer proof of a life lived. The characters for "memory" swim through the air, like a letter warped out of shape, words drifting in suspension calling your name, again and again. "Please forget me," whispers a voice from the other side of the light — a voice that refuses to become wind. The tips of your shoes, the scars on the soles of your feet — the sediment of this world still lingers in my chest. You have set out on your journey, your soul fading into the sky. And yet, the words chase after you — as proof that "you were here" — unable to dissolve into the light, just floating, simply floating. ◈ Artist's Note White light filters through a curtain. I preserved a feminine silhouette — as though she were walking through that light, or perhaps stepping out from within it. The figure's outline is intentionally blurred and layered with noise to keep it ambiguous. Rather than a clear face or expression, I wanted to leave her as something shadow-like, so that each viewer might project onto her whoever lives in their own memory. In the background, I placed text — traces of the things she once held: fragments of letters, a notepad, a diary, unsent emails, a book left half-read. Rendered in soft, drifting tones, the aim was less to assert a presence than to evoke a quiet sense of something — a lingering air. Floating the text too freely risks making it look unnatural, so I laid it along the back face of the curtain and treated it as a shadow, as though light were passing through it. I also distorted it slightly, keeping in mind the image of the "warped letter" in the poem. The overall palette is grounded in purples and blues. The contrast against the white light was tuned to evoke stillness, while deliberately muted saturation gives the piece a heavy, shadowed mood. True to the theme of "unforgettable memories," the work doesn't foreground any single grief or sense of loss — instead, it holds open the space of the simple fact that someone existed. In terms of digital processing, I used tonal correction to sculpt the boundary between light and shadow, then added noise to bring out a photographic texture. Contrast was carefully managed so that the silhouette softens without dissolving entirely. There is no fixed narrative in this piece. It is an open space — presenting what is simply here, and inviting the viewer to layer their own memories and experiences onto it.
