"Love is Purple" Love is purple, and it doesn't last forever More beautiful than yesterday, which no one remembers, is today — the day you can finally let someone go Beneath a purple sky, I wait for you What I'm waiting for isn't tomorrow There is no tomorrow—— This night alone is everything we have ◈ Artist's Note With this piece, I wanted to capture the feeling of being intensely focused on a single point — the now. I started by working through the overall color palette and the handling of light. The details of the cityscape in the background are deliberately fragmented, draped in textures of noise and glitch. The intention was to break down the tidy, coherent narrative that concepts like memory and time tend to carry. Even the sharp text of the signs isn't left as plain information — I placed them semi-transparently, bleeding into the image, as if to suggest that something precious might vanish in the very next moment. At the center of the composition stands the presence of a woman rendered in silhouette, and a wash of purple light rising from beneath her feet. I think of this contrast as the core of the entire work. The glow that spreads from her legs in particular wasn't meant as a simple lighting effect — I added it as a visualization of heat, of the feeling of being here, right now. I wanted this light source to leave a strong impression: a single pulse of living color beating against the sterile noise and decadent tones of the background. In writing the poem, what caught me most was the rhythm of the line: "What I'm waiting for isn't tomorrow / There is no tomorrow——" I felt an urge not to push time forward into the future, but to lock it inside this one moment. That's why I wanted the overall image to carry the mood of a resistance against passing time. Purple, by the nature of its color, tends to read as mystery and romance — but I chose to reframe it here as fragility, and as the particular sensuality that belongs only to the deep hours of the night. Following the rhythm of the poem, the lower half of the frame sinks deeper in color, scattered through with fine particles of light. I wanted to create a kind of breathing room — a space where the viewer's awareness floats between that layered visual structure and the words "there is only now."
