"The Smile in the Shadowed Woods" Her eyes sink into a lightless abyss, and the fall of her dark hair weaves the silence of death into every trailing line. A single tear — carrying a story no one can name — slips down her face like a shadow. The smile is the afterglow of a memory lost somewhere in the mist. Each time her lips part, deep within them an unfinished sorrow sleeps. A pale violet light rises from the roots of the trees. This forest is the place that divides silence from madness. With every step, her footfall is not merely "presence" — it is the last word her consciousness left upon the world. A single drop of tears fell to the earth behind that smile, as though cursing everything. In the silence that lingers beyond the mist, she keeps on smiling — and that smile is the beginning of a journey without end. ◈ Artist's Note This work, titled "The Smile in the Shadowed Woods," portrays a solitary figure who has stopped in the heart of a forest. Beginning with a foundation built through digital painting, I adjusted the texture and light to evoke the quality of photography, leaving the atmosphere suspended between the real and the imagined. What appears on the canvas is a woman standing in a black dress. Rather than showing a clear expression, she is rendered as though dissolving into shadow. Her long hair falls under its own weight, its edges deliberately left undefined. The forest behind her, too, has been softened — blurred not to capture reality but to suggest memory bleeding at its seams. Drawing from the image of "a single tear" in the poem, I rendered the mark on her cheek through light and shadow alone. It is not a literal tear, but a visualization of emotion submerged in silence. Inspired by the phrase "a lightless abyss," I gave her eyes a deep darkness — a gaze that looks inward rather than outward, as though buried entirely within herself rather than seeing anyone at all. For "the pale violet light that rises from the roots of the trees," I tuned the color of the background. To give the entire forest a cold and ephemeral feeling, I layered it in blue-tinged and violet light. I hoped this palette would read not as a physical light source, but as something that has seeped into the space through her own interior emotions — an invisible, ambient influence. I intentionally disrupted the smoothness typical of digital painting by introducing grain and noise. The result is a texture reminiscent of a photograph developed from old film, or of something seen through dust-clouded glass. The grain that spreads across the entire image is not mere texture — I intend it to connect with the poetic elements of "mist" and "memory." In keeping with the poem's line "the place that divides silence from madness," the work deliberately avoids any clear sense of good and evil, or of narrative resolution. Whether she is a ghost or a hallucination glimpsed inside a dream is left open. I wanted to leave room for the viewer's own memories to bleed in. A woman stands alone in the forest, smiling even as she sheds a tear. That contradiction in feeling is something words cannot fully hold — yet I made this work with the intention that it might be carried through the visual. Within the quiet that drifts from the piece, I hope you might sense something: that someone is waiting for someone, or that she is moving toward a place already forgotten. ◈ Edition This work is a limited-edition giclée print from the Mystique In Enigma series. ◈ Keywords Digital Art / Fine Art Photography / Gothic Atmosphere / Ethereal / Melancholic / Silhouette / Mist / Purple / Shadow / Emotional Depth / Limited Edition

About Limited Editions
This is a Limited Edition produced in only 1 pieces worldwide. Each piece carries a unique edition number, with authenticity proven both digitally and physically.

Each print carries a unique NFC tag. Its tamper-evident structure breaks if removed, so it cannot be transferred to another work.

Artwork details, edition number, and ownership history are recorded on the blockchain, preserving provenance and ownership over the long term.

A certificate bearing the artist's signature is included. Along with the print itself, it leaves you with proof of authentic ownership.
Unlike traditional proof that relies on a handwritten signature alone, linking a physical NFC tag with a digital certification record delivers tamper-proof, far more reliable proof of authenticity.
Authenticity is certified using "Startrail," a blockchain certification platform operated by Startbahn, Inc.
